Advent and the holiday season is a time of giving, of prayer and preparation, and a time for to spend quality time with our favorite people. One of the essentials to our faith is a community of faith. Obviously, this includes our immediate family and our church family. But our faith community extends beyond that.
You know the saying, that we should surround ourselves with people who make us better, who inspire us, who lift us up? The holidays are time to celebrate those people!
Speaking of people who bring us up and inspire us, meet Meagan.
Meagan was born in Texas and lives in Missouri now. She taught herself to play the guitar when she was 12. She is terrified of sloths. And when Meagan is out and about, she enjoys pretending she's a witch, living among muggles.
If that's not relatable, I don't know what is.
I've known Meagan for several years after serving as a staff member with her. It wasn't until I was director though that Meagan and I became close. Meagan is one of the most joyful people I know and she's actually going to be sharing her joy and passion for God on Wednesday as a guest-blogger! Meagan is an education major and the next co-director of Camp Re-NEW-All with Mary Black (who you'll meet next week).
I'm so excited for her to share her take on love, which is what the second candle of the Advent wreath represents.
Meanwhile, look around. Who is someone who brings you up and makes you better? Give them a hug, tell them thank you, and then thank God for putting them in my life. I know I thank God for Meagan regularly.
